W ramach obchodów Roku Chopinowskiego z końcem października odbędzie się kolejny koncert w Edynburgu.
Tym razem usłyszymy jak grają Iwo Załuski oraz Simon Niemiński.
Great musicians, including Simon Nieminski and Iwo Zaluski
will play Chopin on the cathedral’s pipe organ and on the piano.
Simon Nieminski studied in London at the Royal College of Music, at Cambridge
University and as Organ Scholar of York Minster. He is experienced in the cathedral
music tradition, currently as Organist of St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Edinburgh,
and previously as Organist and Master of the Music at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral
in Edinburgh. He has also conducted the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union in concert
at the Usher Hall and played organ in the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
Pianist, composer and author Iwo Zaluski, was born in Kraków in 1939, a direct
descendant of Prince Michal K. Oginski, Poland’s greatest composer before Chopin.
He arrived in Great Britain in 1946 as a refugee, and was educated at Ampleforth
College, the Royal Academy of Music and St Mary’s College of Education in Twickenham.
He pursued a career as a music teacher and composed many musicals and rock operas.
Concert organized in cooperation with the Scottish Polish Cultural Association.
Free event, with a retiring collection at the end.
Extreme weather in the summer of 2010 caused extensive flooding across much of Poland, which killed some people and displaced others. The funds collected will be donated to a Polish charity to help to deal with the damage caused by this.
